Comparative Anthelmintic Efficacy of Caesalpinia Crista, Nigella Sativa and Oxfendazole in Broilers with Experimentally Induced Ascaridia Galli Infection
The study was conducted to explore the effect of two herbal drugs, Caesalpinia crista and Nigella sativa in comparison with Oxfendazole in broilers experimentally induced with Ascaridia galli infection .A total of 130 day old broiler chicks were divided into five groups i.e. A, B, C, D and E each group having 26 birds. Group E was kept as negative control, while all other groups were induced wi...

A survey was conducted to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminthes in local chickens, broilers and layers slaughtered in Makurdi metropolis between September 2007 and April 2008. A total of 440 samples were collected from male and female chickens. Of the total samples examined, 200(45.5%) were from domestic chicken, 140(31.8%) from broilers and 100(22.7%) from layers.
Changes in the Biochemical Parameters of Experimental Chicks Due to Ascaridia galli Infection
The W.L.H. chicks carrying A. galli infectioin showed ascridiasis and anemia. The biochemical responses such as glucose, protein, cholesterol, urea, acid phosphates and alkaline phosphatase level after 16 days and 32 days at low dose and high dose of infection were studied. The infection showed a significant increase in serum cholesterol and serum urea levels in all the experimental cases. The ...
متن کاملAscaridia galli infection of pullets and intestinal viscosity: consequences for nutrient retention and gut morphology.
1. Pullets were given a control diet or a diet supplemented with a non-starch-polysaccharide hydrolysing enzyme preparation (NSP-enzyme) from weeks 6 to 14 of age to induce differences in the viscosity of the small intestinal ingesta. Half of each feeding group (n = 25) was infected with 250 embryonated Ascaridia galli eggs at an age of 6 weeks. 2. At 14 weeks of age, before the pullets were sl...
